Hi all,
Just wondering, in these powerlifting competitions how many reps do you need to do for each lift? (Squat, Dead lift and Bench Press)
Thanks

You get 3 attemps at each lift. One rep only needed.

Ok thanks.
Currently i am 19 years old and weigh 75Kg, my one rep maxes are,
Bench 95Kg
Deadlift 150Kg
Squat 120Kg
I have not been doing this for very long, and working on my squats, where would i stand at competing with these lifts?
Also how to they monitor form?
Thanks James
Form is monitored by judges, it differs a little by fed but in general
squat-crease of the hip below the top of the knee at the lowest point.
Bench-Arse on the bench, bar paused on chest waiting for press command, lockout must be even.
Deadlift-No hitching, usually ask for a hold at the top as well.
Three judges watch, you need a 2-1 decision ( at least ) in your favour for the lift to count.
As to your (raw I assume ) lifts, not bad at all in my opinion . One way to get an idea of the numbers to aim for, is to look at the qualifying totals required to get to the brits.
Though it should be said, even if you haven't got the required lifts to qualify, there is nothing stopping you turning up, lifting and enjoying yourself.
P.S.

lets say you lift in the juniors, you need 412.5 kilo total, only 47.5 more to go before qualification!

Thanks alot, thats helped me out alot, i will start working on improving my form in my lifts.
Best bet would be to train with some powerlifters off this site, there is only so much help the internet can give you. This is by far the best and fastest way to improve your form.

Follow the link below to the results from this years BWLA British Junior (under 20) Championships. It should give you some idea of where you stand.

I have just started to get into power lifting and strongman at the age of 31 and was wondering what the different groups mean?
whats the difference between open and m1,m2?
what does equipped and unequipped mean?
i only lift raw and drug free and want to compete at 110kg.
think positive, train hard and achieve your goals !

According to BWLA.
23-39 = Senior.
M1 = 40+
M2 = 50+
M3 = 60+
Open means no age categories.
Lifting raw and drug free generally means either BWLA or BDFPF, bit there is nothing to stop you lifting raw and drug free in the untested feds.

In BWLA there is no such thing as a 23-39 age class. "Senior" is actually open to all ages and "Open" as far as I know has no actually meaning within the BWLA rules regarding age.
