Hi all, just thought I'd say hello! :cool:

Been lifting weights on and off for a few years, I'm 52 now! :icon_gre: Started taking an interest in powerlifting of late, hence my interest in this site.

I'm from Northants, and train in my garage at home

Stats, if they mean anything to anyone are:

height 5'6" (shut up :D)
Weight 14st 6lb
Circumference = huge! :rolleyes:
Squat: 180k
Bench: 117.5k
Dead: 182.5k

Pathetic compared to you guys, but I'm old and creaking a bit. :D

Hi mate, if possible, try to get to a gym with other powerlifters, even if it's only occassonally.I have a power rack and a superb bench at home but at least 90 % of my training is done down at the gym with other lifters. I only train at home when my shifts dont allow me to get to the gym when the other guys are there. I am a lazy bastard and work much harder in a gym full of powerlifters to help, advise and take the piss!

Good experienced lifters will increase your ( already very respectable) lifts considerably. Training on your own becomes very boring and you are missing out on the social side of training as well as shed loads of help which you will get from a decent bunch of lifters.

Fekkin ancient! It feels it some days mate. :D

Thanks for the advice Jabba. Much apreciated.

I used to go to Better Bodies in Northampton but only occasionally, and I think I read somewhere on here a while back the names mentioned of a couple of guys who trained there? But its awkward getting over there, and with my job, I can never guarantee what time I get finished.

The other alternative was Fitness First - but we wont go there, it served a purpose, in that it got be back into it but thats that!
