If you're eating right and supplementing and all and still lose focus after 40 minutes (i tend to do the same) you could try what I do. I just sit back for a minute or so and think hard about what I want to be (or do). ie imagine some ungodly weight you want to be able to lift one day or look at a lifter in your gym who is lifting some weight you want to be able to lift. This usually helps put things back into perspective and fires me up to go work again. If there is no one in your gym lifting heavier than you then you're a badass and I would suggest just letting that be your motivation- to not let anyone be stronger or work harder than you. I tend to lose focus on my lifts when I lose focus on my goals (which comes with being tired as hell), so if I can get that fire back under my butt then I tend to focus a little more for the rest of the workout. This may sound like some bodybuilding "hardcore" bullcrap and it may not do anything for anybody here, but it sure works for me.
Hope this helps,
CJ

supplements got nothing to do with it! pure drive ,determination and the will to succeed is whats needed. set goals and strive towards them.

You train in the same gym as one of the best powerlifters in the country - you should try and train with him as much as you can Toddy boy. Perhaps you could teach him how to deadlift then too LOL.

He trains with the Mighty Mexican - Phil. You'd think that would be motivation enough but he's pounding dead animals all day long in his shop. Just cut back on that a bit Tod and you'll have more energy and more motivation to train.
See you Sunday Tod and thanks for the Valentines card.

If I trained in the same gym as Phil I'd make it my mission to squat with him and NOT lower the rack. Make the little fucker wear stilts - lol!
He'd probably still out squat me though... :(

I've seen this. The guy used to make his training partner step on and off a 25kg bumper disc to take the bar out of the stands!

That's odd cos I thought you two were about the same height (not that I know who either of you are of course).
On a serious note, whenever I've trained with someone shorter or taller than me in a situation where the racks can't be adjusted, we have set them low enough for the shorter person, regardless of who was squatting the larger weight.
