WPC President Mike Sweeney announces that the former WPO will be merged into the WPC. WPO sanctions will be given to WPC meets which offer cash prizes. All rules governing those events will be WPC. No former WPO rules, like 48 hours weigh-ins and equipment restrictions, will be in effect.

There will also be a new weight class structure for full meet and bench only WPO events. The Lightweight class will be up to 198 pounds, Heavyweight class from 198-259 pounds, and Superheavyweights over 259 pounds.

WPO records will be maintained for historical purposes but all future World Records will be set in the standard WPC classes.
