View Full Version : Ultimate newbie BP shirt question!

I desperately need some advice about the shirt I just received from Inzer. I have been having some minor shoulder problems, so I decided to order a simple bench shirt for shoulder support to be used for heavy singles when my program requires them (a few times per month). Before my shirt arrived, I had never seen a bench shirt before and I imagined it would be a kind of stretchy thing, but of course it is not. Anyway the shirt (HD blast) looks tiny! I actually thought that I'g got my measurements mixed up and that my inches were Inzer's centimetres :D:D 50" shoulder measurement, and the shirt is a 52" (but looks like it is 52cm!).

As my title says ' the ultimate newb question' I am assuming that this is normal, but as I live overseas (and I doubt anyone in my commercial gym in Jakarta will have ever even heard of a bench shirt) I don't have anyone to ask, so I am asking you.

Should this thing be so small? I have tried to get it on - alone! That has to be the funniest thing ever - got it over my head and got my arms into it - that was as far as I got, head and arms NOT shoulders (but guessing that if the shirt was 'rolled' up first, a friend could perhaps 'un roll' the thing down over my shoulders), then I was stuck wriggling around for 10 minutes trying to get the damn thing off.

I feel like a cavemen discovering fire - I just need to know that this is normal.

Also, I got the MAX DL (35) - seems much more reasonable - can wriggle into this thing ok but cannot get the straps up on my own (though I feel that the straps will go up very easily with the help of a friend - I am assuming that this is also normal?)

Many thanks for your patience with these questions.

Patrick.

The shirt sounds like a decent fit. If you can get a shirt on by yourself, then it's far too loose. I have a blast shirt which is 1inch smaller than shoulder measurement. It's tight, i need the help of a friend to get it on and it does help protect the shoulders quite a bit. Don't expect it to add much to your bench press.

The max DL also sounds a tiny bit loose, but you should get some support from it.

Thanks for that. As I said Ive only had my head and and arms into the shirt, but I feel that with a little/or a lot of help I'll be able to squeeze this thing over my shoulder - at least I hope so.

The MAX DL - dont know yet as I have not had thr straps up, but should not be too difficult with help (though impossible alone).

Anyway - I don't compete, so these items are only for protection on the heavier lifts (plus to add a bit of variety to training).

I found the attached picture on the net of the tiny shirt - reflects what I thought when I first saw my shirt.

Thanks again.
