Welcome Jennifer. There's more and more ladies lifting now. Where are you based? Always better to have training partners, esp. when you're relatively new to the sport. You might find you're close to some of the people who post on here. Good numbers, by the way.

Hiya Jennifer,

Welcome to the site.

There are lots of powerlifters in the South West, contact BWLA South West for starters - they used to hold regular meets and are a really friendly bunch.

Impressive lift's, nice number's you're hitting. You mention your son spot's you - do you train at a gym or at home? Training seem's to be going well for you, especially for someone who's relatively new to the sport. Good luck on your following competition's.

Can I ask though, how hard was it at 1st to start PowerLifting? I'm not being sexist at all! I have no problem with it, but I mean like when you were at a public gym etc. did it take people a while to find out you were serious about it ?

What started me powerlifting first was my son carlin it was his 4th comp we ended up going on the wrong day instead of sat we went on the sun when the ladie's were lifting so we stayed an watched them also got great encouragement from welsh powerlifting coach mr paul ree's when we met at comp's. I started training at home first did find the powerlifting very hard work especially when your training on your own,I remember i could just about lift 40kg on the bench i thought i can never get stronger it was time an training consistley that was my key.yes it did take people time about me taking it serious.
