I got asked that by my doctors too like 1.5 years ago by my doctor, and I think he didnt believe me when I said no. It was probably because I always quite serioulsy underweight as a kid

I've also experienced this, and the irony is that none of the symptoms on account of which I was seeing the GP had any likelihood whatsoever of being steroid-related. This ignorance is merely yet another testimony to the rank incompetence of the average GP. I do, however, have great sympathy with their situation in many ways, given the staggering disparity between how much medical knowledge they can reasonably be expected to assimilate and the range of different ailments with which they are faced. This problem is, in essence, systemic rather than individual, since it is the flawed structure of the NHS which is ultimately to blame.
Mind you, nowadays, in my enfeebled condition, I'd pay for the compliment of being suspected of using gear!

GPs have targets to meet. eg
1) the number of diabetics at their practice with normal blood sugars
2) the number of people with high cholesterol on statins
3) the number of people with Blood pressure < 140/90
etc etc etc. The more government targets they meet, the more money the practice gets.
Getting people off anabolic steroids is just another one of these targets. That's why if you even vaguely look like you lift weights, then you may get asked the question.
I'm a hospital specialist and though we do have some red tape to contend with, it's nothing close to what GPs have to deal with. You've got to feel sorry for them.

That's interesting Sam.
Now as a dyed in the wool steroid user, I have no personal interest in coming off the gear - however, hypothetically speaking - what support would a GP offer to someone aiming to quit the dreaded anabolics? Would it be post cycle therapy to boost natural test, testosterone gel, or just a good talkin to?
We should be prescribing gear to half the inactive male population of the UK and telling them to get into a gym if you want Dr Pork Pie's views on dealing with the obesity time bomb....

I love it when people ask me if I "do" steroids!! I read an article by the singer Tom Jones a few years ago and the interviewee, obviously a bit star struck asked him how he managed to keep in such tremendous shape - which is a bit rich considering what a sack of shit he is but never mind, I digress.
Anyway his answer was "I eat red meat and punch a heavy bag, every day". I thought this was such an amusing a ridiculous thing to say that I have adopted it as my standard answer whenever I'm asked about gear by a stranger....
"Do you "do" steriods",
"Er...fuck off you weirdo," "No no, sorry - misheard what you asked, I eat red meat and punch a heavy bag, every day"

Take it as a compliment on your physique. Although come to think of it, an endocrinologist asked me the same question and then wrote in his notes that I was 'obese' based on my bodyweight.

Getting people on anabolic steroids is just another one of these targets in an ideal world. :icon_ton:
'do you do steroids?' is a great compliment. Just like 'man! you sick!', 'you are a freak!' or 'i hate that things on your shoulders!'(my moms comment about trapezii muscles) :D

Not sure what this would be mate as I didn't go through GP training. I'm assuming that the younger GPs will have had some training in how to deal with this. I'll ask some of my GP buddies and find out.

Dentists (even private ones) also ask the same question, mine always does even when i got a bit of paper saying no anabolic substances were detected and this is my dentist Nicky ! who came 2nd in the IFBB Ms Britain
