You look pretty strong, but every rep would fail in a powerlifting comp because you have a double knee bend (i.e. you hitch the weight). What I mean is that your legs straighten then rebend and straighten again during each rep which is cause for disqualification.

HOWEVER... I am shit at deadlift and you look strong enough to do it properly.

yea looking strong mate - yea the hitch is at the top of the lift to help it the last few inches as the mighty cuntos says, your looking strong enough for it not to cause u too much trouble adjusting

your lifelong dream WILL become a reality - after the comp im re-vamping the site (with thx to rob, who is a gent) its gonna be more youtube based, so plenty of vids to hand.

not wanting to crash your top lift, heres my 240 from earlier today:

Was that video taken at the leisure centre in Andover ?
Yeah you need to watch out on your lockout a bit if you want to lift in comps.
If you look on youtube under ukpowerliftingbeasts my deadlift there was done at Andover.

What's the reason for the really turned out feet? I've seen people point their feet out slightly for conventional before, but never anything that extreme.

J Power
03-08-2007, 09:14 PM
No reason i just started doing them that way !

That was a few years a go John, I think that was the comp when i dropped 285kg's on my feet and had to drive to the hospital as no first aid.

If you've only done it once, I was there then - finishing somewhere pitifully low in the 90kg class. That injury was a real sickener - IIRC, it was an unfortunate combination of sumo with some talc on the platform, resulting in a sideways slip, backwards fall, and all the weight on the feet. I would have been bawling my eyes out, but I have to report that Mr Green took it like a man and registered little more than mild bemusement. Bravo, sir!

not wanting to crash your top lift, heres my 240 from earlier today:

Jonny - that was a doddle! I'd say that you're good for at least 20kg more than that right now.

If I remember right ,did you break some of the bones in your foot martin ? ouch ! glad i could never sumo deadlift at least my feet are safe.

Carl

did you go to andover a+e, if so its a minor inuries unit now which means it has opening hours, so if you live in andover and get injured at 5 o clock on a sunday you have to get to basingstoke or winchester, very off topic and completely random but nevermind

martin green

Yeah broke a few bones in my left foot and badly brused my right, my company hired me an automatic car so i could get to work, no rest for the wicked :(
