Hi there. My name is Hayden Vincent and I hale from manchester. I am turning 18 at the end of this month and have been into my seriouse sports since i was 14. After coming down in weight from 19stone10lbs to 13stone I discovered the joys of weight training. I was relatively seriouse for a year(as seriouse as a 14 year old could be) and than took up cycling. I did very well and concentrated on time trialing and sprinting. After a horrible injury which left me on crutches for 14 months i got back into the gym and on the bike to strengthen my leg back up. I didnt care too much for the bike after 6 months of boredome and agony so since last september i have been seriouse in the gym with the goal of one day being a pro bodybuilder. Around a month ago i tried squatting and deadlifting for the firts time with an american lad at the gym (never tried before due to fears of knee damage). My first session went well deadlifting 130kg without much effort and squatted 120kg. After working on it since than i am now deadlifting 185kg and squatting 160kg with a bench of 110kg. I am 6ft2 and 96kg i i would love to start powerlifting. Any information, contacts or general chatter is greatly welcomed. Look forward to chatting to everyone.

Well with losing that much weight, having the terrible injuries and building strngth up it seems you have already a lot of experience of what it takes to be a PL'er!

Your lifts are fine, i think best route would be to get your technique (for depth etc) checked out by an experienced lifter (or post some vids up here) then enter a comp!

comps are here:

Hi mate, welcome to the site. That's some serious weight loss and must have been very difficult at your age - well done!

Almost 20 stone previously, at such a young age is jaw-dropping.

You would be good at powerlifting, still a junior and lift's like those.

Good luck to you.

Don't think you can both be a good powerlifter and good bodybuilder in the future....I know Ron Coleman done it but he is Ron Coleman.

Put your efforts in to one to make it easier for yourself.

Never know you could do both.
