New member here. Just reading thru the site and it looks great. some awesome lifters here.
I used to class myself as a sprinter (even though im slow as sh!t) but im thinking about going into rugby so im here to bulk up a bit and get some power.
I used to train a bit in Limerick and even in the same gym as mod cornelius here!! Hey man - keep up the lifting...
Good luck!!

its funny for cornelius to call anyone big. Everyone in the gym goes quiet when you walk in
Anyway, hopefully starting next week i'll be following a westside syle training plan. I've trained charlie francis (the sprinting guru) style for a year now and gotten great gains in short sprints and strength. I've been obsessing with keeping BW down though and only weigh 80kg @ 5'10 :(
So now im gonna mix up charlie's sprinting with louis's weights work.
Over the last month i started box squats and i love em. I've a proper squat box coming in the next few weeks so that'll be when it all starts. hopefully the extra leg strength will bring on my sprints too and negate any slowing down due to extra bodyweight.
I love doing c&j and kickbox too - im gonna try fit it all together if i can.
So time to add 10kg of muscle and get as explosive as tnt. Cant wait...

Cheers lads - im not big tho. Just a good photo...
Im weak as sh!t too. Id struggle with a 200kg dead or squat.
Im hoping that'll all change once i get box squatting.
Oh ya - one thing i spose i've just noticed is how different my style of squatting would be to some of the pics/vids here. I'd be much more olympic style, a2g and closer stance. It'll be good to learn this new style and see if i can get up into the 200's.
And as for my bench - well its none existant. I got to 110kg before but i could only do it once every few months. There's loads a room for improvement anyway...
I work in dublin so i train there in ucd. Its CRAP. worst bars, benchs ive ever seen. filthy too but they let me do presses and jerks so its alrite. im from limerick and live close to castletroy so whenever i get a chance i train there in ul. Mainly weekends. Im stuck in hurling season at the moment and dont want to muck that up by starting a new program but as soon as its over i'm gonna give it a go for sure!
Thanks again. Im sure i'll have loads of q's for ye in time

If you live in Dublin and powerlift you need to get your arse into Hercules gym.

Hey man - nice to almost meet ya there yesterday in the arena!
i didnt want 2 disturb your training.
some people hate that.
i think you were a bit pissed off with me cause i was doing snatch in front of ya (very badly too)
Do you train BB style a few days a week as a kind of recovery method from heavy powerlifting? Or is it a new training phase you are in?

no problem man. i really dont like doing snatch in a crowded gym cas it pisses everyone off i know. but its in the program and helping a lot so...
and i didnt want to bother you either. your "light" training seemed fairly heavy to me.
next time for sure i'll say hello.
you gotta promise not to laugh at my weak a$$ lifts though :icon_ton:
ps - you're fvcking huge man!!
