View Full Version : Cage Rage 17: Load of shit!

The new move to the arena is fucking wank! The seats are half as big, and 10 times more uncomfortable. No way that 2 men above 11 stone could sit next to each other in any sort of space.

I was next to my 22st mate, but luckily one guy did not show so we had the spare seat inbetween. It also looked like a warehouse and had a feeling of cheap to it.

The conference centre was many times better, I doubt I will go again purely for this reason.

The card was shit, many fights pulled off, the cage rage site still listed them which I think is out of order, I knew what the actual card was, but I over heard many people speaking with dissapointment at coming up to see a fight which they had pulled off, and not advertised the change.

Cheeky bald cunts .

The Freeman fight lasted about 12 seconds longer than I predicted, at 17seconds. Although he was out from the 1st punch, which was probably within my 5 second prediction.

The man was a fucking idiot for getting in the ring with Manhoff, he was never really any good, what made him think he could come back and fight possibly the best stand up fighter in MMA today?

He said in his promo, that maybe he had too many bangs to the head, I think he could be right. He also said "the Machine will not get knocked out", well you were very wrong about that Ian.

The rest of the fights bored me to be honest, there was a massive lack of skill in many fights, with niether man having any idea what to do.

The highlight was some fat guy who beat James Thompson, he looked as if he was going to get killed, but hung in there and turned it around, but again, zero skill standing or on the ground from either fighter.

That was also the worst piece of reffing I have ever seen, Grant Waterman should be sacked, he let James get hit about 50 times, in a row, with no defence, hoping he would escape, as he is cage rages 'golden boy'.

In the end the corner had to throw the towel, it was disgraceful.

I have been to many of these shows and this was by far the worst for many reasons, apart from seeing Melvin smash Freeman, it was a total waste of £50, plus £15 parking, (up £5 from the conference centre :( )

Just when MMA seems to be gathering momentum - a good oppertunity to try and get cage rage up there with the bigger events, sounds like they blew it.

Has james thompson been let go from pride or is he not under any contract ?

when i was younger and into boxing i used to watch shows and i think the worst thing is a fight that lasts under 30 seconds - when your their live its pretty easy to miss the whole thing !!!

bummer !!

Cage rage and Pride are working together, so James is probably able to fight on both, but after last nights performance, I doubt he'll be going to Japan anytime soon.

He cant punch or grapple, he's just a lump, and to be honest does not seem to be that strong.

Even his punches on the ground had no power, he had the other guys back and did not go for a choke, the arm was hanging out on many occasions, and he did nothing. Fuck knows what sort of training he is doing but he really needs to learn how to grapple and use submissions, in the 1st round it seemed to me that the other guy was almost giving James the sub, so he could get out of there, and he still did not take it!

I knew the Freeman fight would be a few second affair, so I did not blink :)

poor old james,he id from up the road from me too.

Ive always though the cage wastoo small in cage rage,it gives it a cheap look (for me anyways) either a niceopen ring or a big octagon , but not a small octagon - whats it like to watch live ??

bravo started showing cage rage but it seems to have vanished , much like big jims career , c'mon jimmy, get stuck in you big lump.

Men and Motors showed some of it for a while, with the 2 bald cocks commentating.

They had some good clips of my mate Jeremy, who unfortunately is not doing so well at the moment after being caught with nearly a £mill in his car, oops.

The highlights from last night will prob be on Sky sports next Thurs, or the week after.

The cage size is fine to watch live, does not seem too small. At the conference centre it was a good night, and worth £50, at the arena its not.

yea the UK shows are generally pants, and seem to have a bit of an underground / gangster feel to them. have heard alot of dodby stories about match ups etc.

i think its cage rage 15 i have on dvd. poorly produced, but some of the fights are excellent. cyborg v manhoef is awesome

Cage Rage 15 was an excllent event, as were many before it, the move to Wembly arena made 17 bad, (but the fights were not that good either).

I went to see cage rage 17, what made it even worse were the bloody chavs from the football being there, james is a dick, he gassed quicker than anyone i've ever seen, but then again they both did...typical heavyweight match...so slow, it was a shit fight.

Not seen you about for a while.

Yes the cunts in the audience, just added to a shit night, I wont be going on Sat that is for sure.

Even my mate, who is very laid back, and does not have a bad word to say about anyone, said to Andy Geer, the promotor, who is his friend, and gives him free tickets, that if the place is full of pricks at 18, like it was at 17, then he would not be going again.
