awesome! I have only an occasional viewers knowlege of mma,

someone fill me in....

Pride is considered tougher than the UFC right? Also Pride seems to have more striking than the UFC?

your not allowed to use elbows in pride - but are allowed soccerkicks and stamping !!!
pride is better paid and considered by most to be the top level , although some of the UFC guys would argue with that !!

silva vs liddell in UFC and chuck might win, but in pride ?

was that fedor that randleman dumped on his head in the last clip ?? i think that was the heavyweight tourney of 04 ? i really must dig that out n have a look !!

also does anyone know which event randleman faught rampage ??

oh, if anyone wants the opening round of the 'openweight' tournament that took place earlier this month give me a PM and ill send you a copy, some cracking fights.

Yep, that's Fedor. The way the clip ends, you'd never guess that he's gonna win the fight a few seconds later!

There tends to be a bit more striking in Pride due to the fact that you cant really clinch up against the ropes as you can the cage.

Pride fighters are of a higher class than most UFC guys, IMO.

I think Silva would take Chuck, and Fedor would just take everyone, he is truely the most well rounded fighter ever.

I think Franklin is one of the UFC'c best at the moment, and he would probably do well in Pride.

I think elbows, knees and kicks should be allowed on the ground, along with the head, bring back Brazil Vale Tudo rules!

JWB who was in the 1st round and was it any good, since I've stopped fighting I have not really kept up with MMA apart from the UFC that Bravo shows.

I think the most distinctive thing I notice about Pride and UFC, is how much quicker the fights are stopped in UFC.
I laugh with Pride, because the ref is more concerned in letting the judges know he's stopped the fight than stopping the pounding of the fella who is flat out cold on the floor...LOL

Yeah, UFC have gone too far on 'safety', that may sound silly, but they stop many fights too early.

There are no big name fighters still fighting real Vale Tudo, as there are no big shows, and hence no big money.

I love the old WVC and BVC, the 1st one that Mark Kerr did was great, I really think the use of the head should be allowed back in, it is not dangerous, it is purely becuase it looks so bad they dropped it, IMO.

Most of my fights were no rules street (well into triple figures, with triple figure KO's too, :) ), but I trained seriously in submission grappling and boxing, with some very good people for the last 3 years, only injury stopped me. MMA fights I had were basicly UFC rules, between different clubs.

I rolled and sparred with a lot of the UK's top MMA people, learned a lot off of them.

Fedor is not fighting in the GP anymore due to his hand injury, he has been replaced by Vanderly Silva apparently! I think that will make it more interesting as Fedor would have just walked through every one.

I do have a fairly decent knowledge, and was coaching for a while, but I dont have the time to do that at the moment. I still go and train people on occasion but nothing regular.

I pulled both bicep tendons quite badly, and they have never healed properly, dispite physio and extended lay offs, I took a whole 2 months off of MMA training when I broke my right hand, (fighting :) ), and when I went back, my tendons went again.

I also tore a tendon in my left knee, which not only kept me from training MMA but also stopped my deadlifting for over a year, and squatting for about 2 years (hence why my squat is shit), and it still gives me problems.

Every injury I've ever had I did to myself, I would not mind if some one busted my arm in an arm bar etc, but to fuck yourself up really pisses you off, :(

I think Silva v Mirko would be great, has potential of being one of the best fights ever, to me they are quite similar in style, esp now Mirko's ground game has come on.

I think I'd have to go with Mirko if he is having a good night.
