I recieved my entry form today - very much looking forward to the training and the event itself - it wont matter if i dont use a bench shirt will it ??
im not expecting to do particularly well anyway and have been advised against using equipment untill i have a reasonable level of strength (which is a fair point)

Good stuff. nah doesnt matter about using a shirt. its good to have something to train for a lot more motivating than if you havent got a comp ahead of you. as its your first comp i wouldnt worry too much about what weights everyone else is lifting just have fun im sure youll learn a lot!!:D
im also going to lift in that comp

LMAO, theres a few guys from muscletalk going down, they will be carrying me on a deckchair,to save my legs....

Nothing better than a stiff hand shake:p
hmm i will be looking for some one to wrap my knees cough neil deighton cough
it should be a good time i dont really understand what i means about if you have won international show that you have to be a guest lifter(i dont know if this applies for me because i have won the worlds and euros but as a teen and junior may be it only applies to open lifters)well what ever happens i will go to it cause i love to compete:cool:

i think the british open is set up to give new lifters a chance to pick up a medal. if you have placed in the top 2 of your weight class in the british or an international comp you cant take a medal. its a great comp if, like me you are still inexperianced and dont have a chance against the monsters (at the british) in your weight class. :) not sure if it counts as a junior, try pm ing extream

lee , you say your inexperienced and dont have a chance against the monsters, but your lifts seem pretty awsome to me !!!
surely you could take part in the euros and mabie worlds ??
having said that,im not 100% what weight you are.
does anyone know, are you allowed to reset your feet once you have lifted the bar from the monolift in the squat ????
bulldog
05-21-2006, 08:27 PM
u can reset feet as long as u havent been given the command to squat
sam graham
05-21-2006, 09:49 PM
you can do whatever you like before you are told to squat by the head ref.this actually happened to me a couple of weeks ago at the europeans. i went off balance when i lifted the bar off and the spotters had to catch me from falling . once i got myself steady, i got the signal from the ref and done the lift. you still have to be within the one minute from the bar is loaded.

Lee, the way you're increasing your totals each comp .. you're definitely someone I consider a threat mate (mean that in the nicest sense). Looking forward to our bench battle .. that's if I get it right with the metal shirt (still a bit hit n miss with it) or don't bomb. It's early days for you and you've still got a lot more in the tank. See you at the final and good luck. If fact good luck to all competing.

Sorry to sound dull, but can anyone enter this comp or do you need to qualify? At the risk of being mocked, i just want to bench really, could i just post any lift on the others...or just say a 140 on each or something?
Also, in terms of equipment, how does BPC differ from IPF (BWLA)? Is it still single ply bench shirts?
Thanks a lot guys.
Rich.
cornelius parkin
06-20-2006, 01:38 PM
I think any one can enter because this is the comp for the people that wernt may be up to the standards of the guys at the brits last weekend, not trying to take away from the show because i am sure it will be great and hopefully i will come over and compete in it also.
It probably wont have a bench only comp so you will have to squat and pull as well as bench:)
no unlike ipf you are allowed multi-ply shirts as long as the back is closed, but dont let that stop you lifting in you single ply gear because lots of people do.
little lee
06-20-2006, 02:01 PM
i talked to lee marshal at the brits and he said if anyone wanted to do bench only you can.:) you can use double layer but the shirt must have a closed back
RichEllis
06-20-2006, 02:21 PM
Cheers guys. I was mildly concerned for a minute that i might have to do some propper lifting...luckily just the bench though! lol.
I'd best get looking for a double ply shirt then...

Sorry, lust to clarify, if we just want to bench, will any records that may be broken still count or would this have to be at a specialist bench meet unless lifts are posted for squat and dead??
Cheers.
French Connection
06-21-2006, 02:35 PM
If you lift in a Bench Press only competition the only records you can break are the "Bench Press only Records".
If you enter the Powerlifting and do a token Squat and Dead lift you can claim the bench record in the powerlifting section and in the Bench Press only records.
RichEllis
06-21-2006, 03:22 PM
oh right ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. do you know if there is a minimum lift in BPC...i mean, i think in IPF you have to squat 1.2 times your bodyweight or it wont count.
Cheers
French Connection
06-21-2006, 04:22 PM
As far as I know Minimum is 60kg the bar and 20 each side.
Put will have to check but pretty sure.
After umming and ahhh'ing ive decided definatley to enter , i hurt my knee a little - its fine and then the dreadded cellulitis, i also have issues with being a bit of a fat twat, but realisticly im not gonna make 90kg - the strength sacrifice might be too great , so ive got a good 9 weeks training to get up to my PB standard and ill be happy just getting into my squat suit !!
thanks littlelee for the inspiration

Yes it will be my 1st comp.
At the moment my best lifts are 220 x 2/ 220/ 300, so a 740 total, but I have squatted about 3 times in 2 and a half years due to a knee injury, they are all raw lifts.
Got some predator briefs and a Fury shirt, which I shall start using next week, hoping to get my squat to around the 300 mark by Sept, with the briefs and possibly a suit depending on how I get on with the briefs.
I'll probably go for a Boss suit if I get one.

boar the boss suit is a bitch to get used to so i would put in a lot of practice did you get the briefs with it,i used them in one show and could only hit depth once so now i go with out briefs.
work your low back more if your hitching the weight.
i think the 100kg cat will be classed with the fatties CP , couldnt afford briefs, gonna put it on later (he says optimisticaly)
tom,i got a size 48 - thats for the 100kg lifter according to the boss charts, which were different than the centurian size charts.

I am just happy if i can keep from embarrassing my self against the other 100kgers its one hell of a step up as far as results go 90kg vs 100kg.

Unless someone reckons they're going to do really well (or really should do) and then doesn't they should never be embarrassed about a lifting performance. If you totalled 500k and it was a pb then it would be awesome. In your case, hopefully you will go comfortably over 800k which will not be embarrassing. I won't get anywhere near 800k, but I will still have fun and will probably get a few pbs along the way.
