Has anyone been watching Ultimate Fighter 3 - think its good that britain has been represented by 2 fighters - Ross Pointin and Michael Bisping. Gotta say I liked Ross' attitude - when asked what he was going to do in his fight the reply came - 'smash his face in!!!' - Brilliant !!!

Bisping to me looks very good, maybe not as good as most in the grappling dept., but a great striker - I hope he goes all the way !!!

Heres waiting for tonights episode !!!

Ah, what happened with the last fight - totally missed it !!!! The wife has given birth to our little son and he done a screaming act right through the full programme!!!! so missed the fight !!!!

Gotta say though the deaf guy looks a beast - when he's grappling - but proves he dont like getting punched, thing is your playing a big boys game so dont whinge about the big boys rules !!!!

Gotta say Johnnie what the fuck is Shamrock on ???? His training is shite to say the least !!! He's supposed to be an awesome trainer yet he has big time botched it ???? He brought a bodybuilder with him - what the fuck for ???? A guy like that you would bend and snap inside 30 seconds the conditioning is totally fucked up!!!!

Whereas before it started I thought Tito was a wanker, but full praise to him his training is structered, has a good complimentary team around him and his guys are feeding off this and growing in confidence!!!!

I'm glad Sole is out what a wanker !!!! I'd love to have got in there myself with him piledrive the fucker and smash his face up for him - But thats just my opinion????

Why does everyone keep saying this, it pisses me off. He isn't "a bodybuilder", he is a nutritionist who happens to compete at bodybuilding. He is also helping out with training.

its amazing what you can watch online !!!!

jesse coming back is a big headache for the light heavies - much more trouble than the wuss who left !!

the ginger guy who has been itching to fight looks much bigger than the other lad who seems to have gone up a weight to enter the TUF3 house ??

Alex - ok??? Play on words he's a nutritionist - but these guys are competing on short time scale and if I aint mistaken havent seen him dishing out much nutritonal information ????? You compare Tito's camp - a BJJ coach one of the best in business and a Striking coach, compared to a beefed up 'nutritionist' and a boxing coach - I know which team I'd prefer to go on ???

Lets be fair what the fuck did Shamrock and his 'nutritionalist' do for Ross Pointin when he was getting ready - er............. Fuck all !!!! Ross done it all by himself!!!!

They wouldn't show that kind of thing, wouldn't make for good TV. I would imagine he has given them great nutrition advice.

I know he isn't a sensible choice, but he does help out when possible with sparring etc, I don't think he should be blamed for anything, Shamrock chose to bring him in

Ross also ignored all the advice he got from the others (on camera) so I imagine he ignored the advice he got off camera from the nutritionalist. I don't think he was wanting to take advice from anyone.

The reason this pisses me off is because I have had the same about me. Imagine you're a welder (for instance) who happens to do powerlifting (as this guy is a nutritionalist who happens to do bodybuilding), and someone came out with "He knows nothing about welding, he's a powerlifter" ! That's basically what people are doing to this guy.

I've had similar, prospective PT clients choosing not to train with me because they think that since I do powerlifting as a hobby they are going to get muscly and I don't know how to get someone to lose fat, I see it as an insult to my professionalism and qualifications and years of study. I'm sure the nutritionist would feel the same to read similar comments about himself. (and it's not just you, there's hundreds of posts similar on MMA forums so it's nothing personal, just pointing it out)

Cheers

Alex

Alex mate fully appreciate what you are saying i myself run a gym and do alot of personal training so i appreciate what level your on.

i had a look at your web site - really good !!!!! But do you think if you kept your Powerlifting acheivements as a seperate thing away from your PT advertising that may help you ??? Just an idea - i know women are put off alot by 'big lads' or what they perceive to be 'big' or 'strong' guys' - just an idea mate.

I do enjoy talking about the UF3 as its my main passion always been into training and fighting in some shape or form??? And I did used to think Shamrock was the 'dogs testicles' I just don't think he can train others - he just doesnt have that ability to enthuse people or inspire them - and lets be fair these are guys that dont need kickin up the ass when it comes to motivation ??? But when your leader crushes everything and doesnt seem to back you - what you supposed to do????

He has for me no specific structure - give them a day off to play fuckin golf ???? No, give them a day off and do flexibility, massage, yeh use the nutritionist - Active rest !!!!! But structured to acheive the goals !!!

Use light sparring, bag work - just a no contact session you see what I'm critical of ???

Keep the replies comin mate its good to talk to someone bout it

You're not the first to say that, I was due some updates anyway so check it out, its been removed now!

I think he has maybe realised his 'normal' training wouldn't go down well on TV (as far as I have heard it is "beat the fuck out of you until you can't carry on, then do it some more", and I don't think he knows another way!

Yes, both teams seem unstructured. Of course you don't see the gym training apart from a few short clips of someone (ALWAYS) squatting 60 kilos, but there seems to be very little technical management of training stress, admittedly going by feel is a viable option but Shamrock in particular seems to go from doing full contact sparring all day to playing golf with no set plan I can see....giving the guys the day off cause he isn't in the mood to train them etc.

Yep. Here is a rough template of what I wrote for a fighter, note that training stress is waved and allows for a lot of training without burnout...

Mon-
Day: Upper DE, Lower ME weights
Evening: MMA class 90 minutes

Tue-
Day: Tempo Runs
Evening: Grappling Technique - light rolling

Wed-
Day: Light circuit work
Evening: Bag/mitt work - combos and technique

Thur-
Day: ME Upper, DE Lower weights
Evening: Muay Thai class 90 minutes

Fri-
Day: Shadow boxing conditioning
Evening: Accessory weights (high rep low rest)

Sat-
Day: Sprint work
Evening: off

Sun-
Day: off
Evening: medium pace endurance work

Keep the replies comin mate its good to talk to someone bout it
Will do!

Shamrock is being a total cock, and I think the 'nutritionist' was a shit idea, most of these guys have fought at the weights they are competing at before, so they do not need someone to tell them how to eat to make weight.

It is obviously not doing a great deal to help as the whole team is getting smashed.

Ken is making himself look more stupid every week, making threats to Tito after he got smashed to bit by him is ridiculous.

I have been very impressed with Tito's attitude and training advice, I would be pissed if I got picked by Ken.

I think Mike will go all the way, he looked a bit nervous in his 1st fight, he did not look as smooth as usual, but I am sure he will relax more in the semi's.

P.S good Cage Rage card on July 1st, Tank Abbots is fighting, and Ian Freeman will get smashed to bits by Melvin Manhoff, worth the ticket alone, :)
