Been able to finally download the movie clips from the south east comp (nicely put together justin) and looking at the bench clips the spotting looks shit on some of the attempts-no way that they were in a position to catch the bar if a shirt blew out or lifter misgrooved!!could lead to some serious injuries!

Your right man spotting is the most serious job you could have at a competition so if your doing that you better put in the effort!
Does it pay to do that job all day or is it out of the goodness of your heart:p not a job i would want any way,far too much resbonsiblitly!

i think that there are spotters who get paid but i reckon its done mostly as a favour. dont get me wrong its good of them to do it and very helpful but not if they do a shit job!

I agree. Spotting on the bench is actually pretty stressful and you really have to be paying VERY close attention; if you fuck up somebody could be permanently disabled or die which is serious shit!

I heard of a fairly recent comp where some guy was meant to be spotting and he was texting on his mobile phone during an attempt. If that was me I'd have put the cunt on his arse when i'd finished the lift. :mad:

If you want good spotters it's best to budget for it when organising the comp and pay them!
