Today's comp went really well, it was a good day out and we saw some great lifting from a whole load of people. I'm sure Phil will add a decent run down of what went on when he reads this as he knows everyone who took part.
From what I can remember...
Justin did an excellent 180 in a "partial open back" Titan Fury single ply - it must be one of those custom makes that you hear about LOL!!
I forgot my belt and only managed a 220 opener and then failed 230 twice. Without the belt, the suit just kept sliding up over my big gut and it felt like I was lifting raw!
Gareth Edwards (GOE1988 ) silenced all the doubters with a strong 180 raw lift at 17 years old.
Chris Davies (Archie) got his revenge on his training partner (Darran George) by beating him by the closest of margins to take silver overall (behind me!!) in the WPU category. Georgie beat Archie in their last outing.
There were other good lifts (come on Phil, help me out) but the highlight was watching Dean Bowring doing doubles with 260kgs - twice! He's got to be the favourite to bench 300 in a major comp first now as the BWLA British is only 5 weeks away and he's looking very strong right now.
I've got a DVD of the day and Justin has loads of vids so we'll try and get them posted soon.
I'd also like to thank Mike and Steve from the Whey Consortium (www.wheyconsortium.co.uk (http://www.wheyconsortium.co.uk)) for donating whey, shakers and t-shirts to the competition to use for prizes and raffles. This company is run by two guys - one's a strongman and the other's a grip champion and they put a lot of their hard earned money back into sports such as strongman and now powerlifting.
There's a link on www.welshpowerlifting.com (http://www.welshpowerlifting.com) under the "Merchandise" page where you can purchase their whey and other products, their prices are very competetive and they deliver to your door.
