Well done to the lifters. I went for a bit of general support .. it was a great day.
They didn't put the scores up on the boards so was a bit hard to keep tabs on who did what .. but the highlights from memory were ..
Lee (little_lee on this forum) did some great lifting and improved his PB total by around 80kg if not more (I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm off the mark .. could be nearer to 100kg). Think he added around 60kg to his squat. He did a 220kg bench (using his old shirt so who knows what he'll be doing with his new one) and an improvement on his deadlift .. so he had really good day (there's was definitely talk of a few beers!!!). Well done Lee mate!!
PJ Maguire did a 270kg bench which was awesome .. initial drive off the chest was so fast. Looks like there's more to come from him.
Mark Cullimore went for 400 or 410kg squat which looked pretty close to deep enough but unfortunately got redlighted for depth.. was a good effort tho. He did get a record. He'd torn some muscle but had to register something in all lifts to make the record legit. He got a bit of friendly stick going out and doing a 25kg bench press and 50kg something deadlift
A few records went in quite a few weight categories. Not sure who won the overall team event as had to leave as soon as lifting was done.
Sorry for such a poor and vague report but it's all from memory
Well done to everyone who lifted tho.
Where were Chris and Justin? .. i thought you were planning to come up.

Ahh fair enough. I wouldn't have gone on me own as absolutely shite at directions and getting to places .. luckily one of the lads from the gym wanted to come. Still went the wrong way coming back which added another 30 miles to the journey.
Well Done to Mark and little Lee. Mark has been very unlucky with injuries over the last year. He Broke the 110kg squat record held by Nathan Scott.
I am very happy for little Lee. He trained so hard for this comp, Watch out for little Lee next year, You will be seeing some big lifts from him. He has been pushing me very hard in training over the last 6 weeks. He has help me alot with me much improved bench press since the worlds.

I spoke to Lee afterwards to congratulate him. He was well chuffed with his days lifting .. and so he should be. He went for it and never gave up and the results speak for themselves. I'm really pleased for him.
What was Marks squat Del? I thought he went for a 410kg
Mark done 395kg, He failed 405 2 to 1.
What did PJ squat and deadlift. Which class was he in?

Sorry I don't know exactly what PJ squatting and deadlifted. They didn't write the scores up and I found it hard to hear what they were announcing over the microphone. I think his deadlifts were around 320kg ish (from looking at the plates on the bar) and his squats were mid 300 at a rough guess. I know his bench was definitely 270kg.

yesterdays british team event in birmingham had some great lifting, their was a good atmosphere and a lot of freindly banter between the lifters.
A number of british and european records were broken, the competition was well run and on time, information about flights were posted and the order of lifters announced all the time.
It was a pleasure to watch a competition that seemed to be all about the lifters and that reflected on the lifters performances, the spotters were on the ball and the referees fair.
Thank you TO marie marshall for the results

No probs Lee .. it was good watching you hit form. It was a great day and event in all as there were some quality lifters .. wish I'd lifted now ;0)
Lee Marshall always organises good comps. There were lots of lifters but still finished by 4.45.
Yes, will keep you updated on the shirt .. when i get it. Maybe organise a session with you and Del (you're Windsor way??) as not far from you (Winchester).
Think it would be good next year in general to organise training sessions for us all next year on this forum. Has been mentioned before on other thread here.

It would be great idea to get everyone together.
Logistically it would be a task, as we all live so far away from each other.
I think it would be good to get it together before the GPC Worlds and British.
I think Genesis would be a good place to have it.

I agree with Justin .. could be logistically difficult. Maybe we could have different session in different places just so no individual is always having travel hundreds of miles. Maybe Windsor and Wales as venues to start with .. one of these should be within easy range for most of us.
I don't mind having to travel a bit if it's all for the good of improvement. Would be awesome to train with some of u guys.

Maybe Windsor and Wales
Is Genesis in Windsor?? If not then where ever it is then. Point is, it seems that most of the lifters on this forum are either far West (Wales), mid or east South. So any venues along this belt. Sorry if there's lifters who're further North, in which case we could revise a session further up the country.

Cheers HelenS for the info. I've got the worst sense of direction known to man!!
Mike. you are more then welcome to join me and lee for some training sessions. I would be good if everyone from this forum could get together for some training sessions in the new year. Are you lifting at the south east champs in march?
The Gallery is very easy to get too. It's only just of the M4.

Cheers for the offer Del. I shall definitely be taking you up on it in the New Year. Will be good to get together for a few sessions. Yes, i'll be doing the south east champs. There seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether existing Brit champs need to qualify. I was planning on doing it anyway just to get some competition experience as won't have competed since Germany.
Looking for some major improvements next year. Deadlift is feeling v easy at the mo. Am tripling 260kg beltless and adding 10kg each week while it feels strong.
How's your training going mate?
Training is going well. My bench is improving alot, I have hit PBs on my board press (2,3,4 and 5 Boards) Can't wait to my new shirt! I am 3 rep at 300kg easy with out suit or belt. I have done a triple at 280 raw with no belt too.
I am just waiting tell the new year to start giving training a push for the south east champs where i will be taking my british record total back and going for Marks squat record too!

You're looking strong Del especially considering you're not going to push it hard til build up next year. Judging by the way that 410kg squat (??) video of yours posted a while back came up, you're more than capable!!
