I made this sled up for Rez. Sorry it took so long, busy time for me atm.

Had to use 33mm OD pipe as I never had any 2". Oly plates won't be a snug fit, but they won't go anywhere.

Next is Stewarts budget farmers walks.

You could have put a bit of a smile on your mug mate! I take it that's the "gambo" you're building in the background is it?

I have plans of making monolifts, bench stands, reverse hypers, etc. but I just find it hard to find the time these days.

Been thinking of maybe using up spare time on the weekends to make some good stuff.

What do you want done Pete?

chains. but how i want them!

standard oly collar, <1"chains for 3ft-then heavy 4"links for the remaining 3ft. but with small caribena's linking the lot

to me thats impossible, but im not that way inclined. and only came up with the idea 2 nights ago, so the length of light chain can be differed (hence caribena's) for all 3 lifts to improve lockout

No Rob thats not the buggy I'm making, in the background is a turbine from an old harrier jump jet. The Aircraft engine lads strip and build it for practise.

I have the other one of the Cobra seats you see in the background for the off road buggy, that seat is being used for a helicopter the UAE students are making. More money than sense.
Last year the UAE students chipped in and made a £30k plane that is still standing in a hanger in Newport, though the students have finished the 3 year training and have returned to the UAE. I don't think they want it. I had the chance to go up in it, but I passed on the offer.

I can't quite picture what you are trying to explain.

Chain is measured by how wide the material is in the link. 1" chain is big, 4" would be attached to an anchor of some cruise liner (fucking massive chain).
I think you mean 1" being the diameter of the link, which would translate to hand chain 10mm or something.

You want the hand chain welded to oly collars, the hand chain should be 3ft long. You then want 5/8" chain (heavy stuff) 3ft long with a karabiner on the end which will fit onto the hand chain.

Am I on the right track?

Chain, karabiners etc. I can get from an old employer, so it's no problem.

LOL, right thats my bad then. yeah i thought chains were measured by diamater not material!

basically yes, but with a karabiner oly the oly collar too, so the hand chain would be interchangable. would that make sense? also, how heavy would a 5/8ths chain be IYO? and how big does 5/8" translate to being in diameter?

sorry for the questions!

You can get chains and spring clips from wickes/b and q etc

Not sure mate, need to price up some material. I made that from scrap kicking about.

If I could sell eight then I can justify buying a new sheet of 3mm. That is how many I could get ot of a 8x4' sheet.

My two lengths of 5/8" chain must weigh about 20+kg easy.

Not sure Pete. Wouldn't be much mate, depends how much the chain is really.

I'm not 100% sure on what you want done though, so if you want me to do something, give me a ring and explain, it's always easier than trying to explain on a post.

You ned a light chain to attach the big chains to, this chain need to be adjustable so the big chains are on the floor at the bottom of tthe movement. You attach the big chains (normally about 3 foot) to the light chain so when the bar is raised the heavy chains come off the ground. Yuo can use as many heavy chains as you like.

That is what I do now, I just wrap the hand chain around the bar and threw the link of the heavier chain and use a little shackle to hold it together.

Will that work for you Pete?

big-pete

yes!

i hadnt thought of wrapping the hand chain around the bar to lengthen/shorten distance! il mull it over tonight and try and draw something up and see if it can be bettered in any way and il PM you for more tomorrow.

you star, cheers
