Anyone who doubted the deadlifts Benedikt Magnusson recently said that he was going for should take a look at this picture.

Benedikt Magnusson gives 425 kg a mighty ride at the Icelandic Powerlifting Championships yesterday. Photo by Johannes Eríksson, courtesy of Hjalti Arnason.
Going for the all-time deadlift record with this 425-kg pull, Benedikt Magnusson proves that he's a human forklift and that the record is living on borrowed time.

He was close but missed it this time, I'm sure he will get it very soon.
He is still really young, if he stays injury free then he is set to do some good things.
holly sh*t thats some fine lifting !!!!!

22 I think.
I think Andy Bolton will responed this by breaking his own record very soon, There is no doubt Benedikt Magnusson is a great deadlifter. Everyone says they are going to break Andy Bolton's record but it never seems to happern. I think it would be very instresting to see Andy Bolton vs Gary Frank vs Benedikt Magnusson in a deadlift only contest!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be an awesome contest.
A friend of mine went to the contest and reported this on another forum I visit.
Unfortunately, Benedikt Magnusson failed (barely) to lift the biggest deadlift of all time, 425kg (937 lbs), but since he got it above the knee and is only 22, there is no doubt in my mind that this will happen soon. He deaded 410kg (904 lbs) and totalled 1090kg (2403 lbs) which would also have been a new Icelandic record if Audi hadn't gone one better.
And here are a load of pics from the Meet...

And the video of a very easy 900lbs Deadlift by Magnusson!
