‘Iron’ Mike Tyson has officially begun training at the Central Boxing Club in Phoenix Arizona for a fight that is expected to take place in Washington, DC in June. Taking over Tyson’s training duties is former featherweight champ, Jeff Fenech of Australia who replaces the well-regarded Freddie Roach. Tyson’s manager Shelly Finkel also told Fightnews, “It’s likely that Mike will fight Kevin McBride, but nothing is set.” Last July, the 6’6” McBride (32-4-1; 27 KO’s) was originally pegged to face Tyson before Danny Williams was selected. The 31-year-old McBride of Brockton, MA (by way of Ireland) is coming off of a 5th round TKO over Kevin Montiy last month on ESPN2. Additionally, Tyson was granted a boxing license by the D.C. Athletic Commission in 2002 (just prior to his fight with Lennox Lewis) and it has since expired. However, obtaining a renewal doesn’t appear to be an obstacle as the commission was one of the few who welcomed the former two-time heavyweight champ.

Sad! I wish he'd just pack it all in and retire with a bit of dignity. I'd hate to see him KO'd by another bum such as Danny Williams. I know he needs the money but it's still sad to see such a monster being KO'd by boxers like Danny Williams.

I wouldn't call big Danny Williams a bum. That guy Williams really tore through the ranks in the 90's, but became mentally unstable which held him back. At his best, Danny is awesome, but other times he's very sloppy and lacks consistency. Anyway, Tyson was destroying Danny in the first round before his knee went. Danny beat a one-legged fighter, it took 20-odd unanswered blows to put that one-legged fighter down! It wasn't any old one-legged fighter, it was Tyson.

Mike needs the money :) yes it is sad, but when you can pack a punch like Mike you don't write him off against anybody unless he's well into his 40's. Mike is still in his 30's and proved in the first round against Danny (before his knee went) that he certainly isn't totally 'shot-it'.
