Man, haven't updated in ages!

Thanks for transferring my log to the new board.

Current unequipped PRs in the big lifts: 205 - 132.5 - 230 weighing 90kg.

Here's the last two sessions

Monday 15th August

Bench Press - 6 sets upto
130kg x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 PR!
110kg x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 PR!

Chins - BW+20kg x 8, 8, 8, 8, 6, 6 PR!

---

Tuesday 16th August

Squat - 6 sets upto
200kg x 1, 1, 1 PR!
160kg x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 PR!

I still have some work to do. I'm planning on getting around 220-150-240 unequipped at 90kg by the end of the year.

I did try out some equipped lifting earlier this year and made something like a 260-180-260 gym total. However because of my lack of experience in equipment, the benches didn't touch and the squats a little shallow. Given some more practice, we'll see how it goes.

I'll be ready to compete soon. Hopefully i'll see some of you lads in competition next year.

Okay hit another decent number today, so it's probably time for my very infrequent update here!

Squatted 227.5kg with belt and wraps. Bodyweight is at 92kg.

Bench is upto 137.5 unequipped, havent't maxed on Deads since the last time.

Been emailing a few of the BDFPA reps, with a view to competing some time between Nov/Jan.

Cheers

Sure Beng we should meet up. I had a blast last time!

Yep, lifetime natural. I've actually written articles for the "Bastion of Drug-Free Training". So I would be such a hypocrite if I did!!! :)

Good lifting, the sumo deadlift looked easy.

Do you notice when you squat, you lean forward and even more so when in the hole???
You have to good morning the weight aswell as squat it!!

Yes, totally agree. I recieved the same feedback from some friends earlier in the year.

I spent a few weeks after those videos really working my flexibility. Eventually widening my stance and voila! Much better looking Squats. The stroke is shorter and there's much less forward lean.

This is why I need to get some more videos up of recent stuff. I'll let you guys know when I do.

Thanks!

Thanks Chris!

So, update is this. I've taken the opportunity to work with Jarnail Singh Birring, I think a few of you might know him from the BPO. He's offered to coach me anytime i'm back in Derby. It's really cool to be lifting with a guy like Jarnail, he can pick out faults with my technique very quickly and a big plus is he can help me get used to equipment. I made a pretty easy 240kg Squat with straps down on Monday. Not too shabby at 90kg!

Also plan on reducing bodyweight somewhat to get down to the 82.5 for a Meet in December.

Aside from that it's all going well, i'm taking my Bench shirt in on Monday looking to make some decent reps there.

Cheers

PS. Boy, these updates are becoming more frequent. I may even get to the point where I keep a regular log. That would be something!

Time for another sporadic update.

Also plan on reducing bodyweight somewhat to get down to the 82.5 for a Meet in December.

And I did! I cut 11 freakin' kilo's of fat off me to get down to 83kg!

Waist is down 3+ inches, arms only down 1/4 inch. Strength is down minimally; around 10kg in Squat and Dead. Bench suffered around 15kg.

It was a worthwhile experience, pound for pound i'm much better now.

Next Meet is in Warrington; January 22nd. With the BDFPA.

Take it easy all, Faz

Meet is in two weeks!

Weight is spot on. I'm hoping to get at least a 500kg total, pretty low stuff but this weight loss has killed a lot of strength.

Hello,

An interesting day. I did see some fantastic lifting, a few National records being made, a couple of unoffficial world records. My day wasn't as smooth as I would have liked though! Here's how it shaped up.

I weighed in at 80kg, to put me in the 82.5kg category with room to spare. Lifting unequipped.

My competition for the day was a very good lifter from Preston. From the off I could maybe have out squatted him but it was clear he was much stronger in the other lifts. So I concentrated on qualifying. I needed a 497.5kg total. Opening with 170kg, this went up pretty smoothly and equalled a Meet best. I took 180kg next and then went up with a bit of a struggle but nothing too bad. I opted for 190kg next as I wanted to make a strong showing here to boost my total. It didn't feel too heavy, but as I came back up, I stalled and the head ref told the spotters to take it. The spotters were stand-ins and unfortunately one of them grabbed the bar a lot quicker and harder than the other placing most of that 190kg straight on the left side of my back. I was hurt pretty bad after this, but that's competition and accidents happen.

Squat - 180kg

Warming up for the Bench was a struggle, I couldn't maintain any sort of arch properly and it showed. I missed an easy opener of 100kg, as I lifted my butt off the Bench. With the total I needed still in mind I upped it to 105kg and took that. Same thing, no arch and the bar just died mid way up. I was feeling pretty crappy now, missed my first two attempts and in danger of bombing with a weight I should be repping out. A few of the older lifters came and talked to me, I was glad of that, with some back massage from my brother, I just about managed to get my stuff together for the third attempt and made the 105kg.

Bench - 105kg

So now I was in the position of having to lift 10kg more than I was expecting to, just to qualify. Luckliy the Deadlift is a good lift for me, unluckily my back was ****ed. Even bending over to lift plates hurt. So I cinched my belt real tight and decided to test some Sumo Deadlifts during the warm-ups. Warm ups started out pretty rough, I went all the way upto 180kg with both Conventional and Sumo style and they still felt hard. The head judge came upto me and offered me some advice, I took it and lowered my opener to 190kg.

My first attempt at 190kg went up well. Next was 200kg and that went up well too. So I needed 212.5 to qualify. So I went for it. I squatted down, started to pul and the lift is good!

Deadlift - 212.5kg

So I qualified for the Nationals by the skin of my teeth. Beating my best Meet total at this bodyweight by 30kg in the bargain.

Hurt my back again mate, re-habbing at the moment so hopefully back on track in a couple of months.

Well done on the qualification, lets see a big total in the Nats. :)
