Maybe it's me, but this looks a ridiculous exercise!!!!
That is insane. Serious injury waiting to happen.

I'd say "typical personal training session" and what's worse, a spoter, surely PT would not be able to do it himself.
I hate these moron fads :x

I'm sure they just try to find something to do with the ball because it's just sitting in the corner taking up space.

The PT's at my gym have some of the members benching off a fit-ball thing sometimes.

A couple of guys use them in the gym that I go to - they think they look good doing dumbell presses with their 15kg dumbells on it and screaming while they try not to sweat on their designer clothes. Perhaps I should get a pair of 65kg dumbells and plonk my 22.5 stone bulk on it and see what happens to the ball - my guess is I'll bust it!

I doubt it. And I also doubt you'd be able to use 65's.
Swiss ball DB press is used by westside as an assistance exercise, and is very good for core and stabilisers.

The swiss balls at my old gym were reputedly rated to 600lb.

the thing is that there are really NO bad exercises (with some obviouse exeptions, which are  ), however I do not think these folks really know what they are doing?!?!
I do not mind breaking the rules. however, I hate this narrow mindness and attempts to convience everybody that THIS is THE only way to train now. Because it is NOT.
for some reason, when you go to commercial gym, you'll find PT's rushing to Swiss balls, "bosu", ocupy cable puleys doing arm curls, stand on one leg.... list goes on...
WTF, pls, do not tell me that the only way to be "functional" and have strong "core" (I started to hate this "core" word thanks to PTs) and at the same time look ok, and maybe lift some weight(if you wish to) you need to do all these, let's be honest, Awkward variations of the exercises. In my pesonal opinion.... I do not think so!

He may be a tit, but hes got a lot of bottle. Just one of those things you do to see if you can, doubt its training or done regularly. Funny though.
