Well not for me anymore.

I have been planning to make this for quite some time but just couldn't get my lazy ass motivated to do it.

Well as I now want to make a reverse hyper machine I had to move things up my to do list.

It actually didn't take very long to cut the metal up and weld it together.

The 40x40 RBS cost me about £15-20, can't remember exactly because I bought it for another on going project I haven't finished yet.

Have a look at my pics below, it's not painted yet but I'm still chuffed with it.

Looks great mate - you should make them to order like benggdog and his bars!

Justing maybe you should look into making a business out of your skills. I don't think anyone else in the UK is making powerlifting stuff.

I'd love to make powerlifting stuff. Be like incorpoating two hobbies.

Do it Justin, you won't know until you try mate. Especially useful items like that loading bar that the average guy could buy. I bought a really nice steel log from a guy who makes them on another forum. I'm hoping that he's going to make me some farmers walk implements aswell soon so you could probably do that aswell as they are expensive to buy from people like pullemsports.com.

All you'd need then is a dedicated website (I could help with that) and you're away - you can even advertise them on this site seing as it's yours!

When I do deadlifts, to load the bar I just put a 1.25kg disk on the floor and roll the first plate on to it thereby lifting all the others off the floor, bobs your uncle 8)

I just one arm dead one side up, slip the weight on.

Looks good Justin.

You pirate, you...

Justin - Sounds to me like a good idea to see if you could turn this into a business. I imagine most of your target market (heavy lifters) would love to see cheap and functional lifting kit and wouldn't give a damn about the frills or making sure it looks pretty.

You could do things like deadlift loaders and frames, including customised power cages. Think that would do well.

Customised cages and squat racks would do very well I imagine.

Now if you could make a mono lift then you would be the only one in Europe, i think!!

Squat racks are no big deal to make.
I don't think a mono lift would be too much of a problem either. I used to work for a company that supplied rams etc. so I could get them at cost price.
All I need is a side view and front and back view of a mono lift and then I could gauge the sizes from that.

Be good if I could make one which was affordable to us all.

My first project is the reverse hyper. I'll post up pics when I have done that. I will order the material this week and probably start cutting the metal up beginning of next week.

Anyone know where to buy the material to go over the padding???

Most fabric shops do a wide selection of fake leathers, don't know how hard wearing they'd be... You'd have to get some advice from the sales assistants. Otherwise you could cut the leather off old sofas...

What great pics. Thanks AJ.

Nice to see a rack being put together in a garage.
Those pics will be a great help.
