* Nice workout, just focused on speed on squat. Kept assistance exercises to a minimum. Will attempt 297.5kgs next week for 2 reps. With more assistance work, alternate every other week to avoid over training. Good spotting by Flex!!!

I was under the impression you shouldn't stretch before working out. Not just because you muscles are cold, but that it actually increases the chances of injury instead of reducing. Also I think I read it can negatively effect power output.

Ive always done some form of stretching before a workout, I think its good to have a certain amount of flexability. Its good to keep everything tight for powerlifting, but I prefer to stretch before during and after workouts to avoid injury. Everybody is different, but I know Ricky Dale Crain is a firm believer in stretching. He swears by it and he has one of the biggest squats ever at 181pounds bodyweight 400kgs. I think stretching is important for the powerlifter!!!!!

I agree stretching is important, especially hamstrings, groin and hips for me which gets really stiff from squatting.

I always stretch afterwards, kind of kill two birds with one stone. You get the benefits of increased flexibility while removeing waste chemicals from training.

stretching causes micro tears which will affect your performance if stretching before training.obviously if you are tight in certain areas then its wise to stretch beforehand. i sometimes stretch my hip flexors before squatting if i feel the need to do so.

its one of the choose your camp things.

I agree, a lot of people dont agree with stretching for powerlifting. I feel I need to stretch, I feel stronger when I have stretched my whole body. Each to their own!!!
