Visited the BPO welsh today. Didn't think much of it tbh. The competitors were great, I just didn't think much of the set up.
They only had one ref who didn't know his ass from his elbow, his word was final even though he did press the wrong buttton a few times and gave a red light when it should have been a white and vice versa.
The worst must have been the ruling by the one and only ref.
If anyone knows Dean Bolt they know he wears a rolled up bandanner when he is competing. Well nothing was said during the squat but the ref moaned about his bandanner during his last lift of the bench. He made his first attempt on the deadlift and the ref told Dean that the head gear was not legal and he must remove. I'm not quite sure what the refs beef with it was, it's not like you gain 10kg by wearing one. Dean never lifted again, it was a joke.
I only got clips of the deadlifts, I will make up a page and post the link asap...

I picked up a membership form to join the fed, as my thinking was to lift with them in single ply, to get used to the equipment and then make the transission to two ply (BPC). I'm re-considering even lifting with them after todays performance.
How hard would it be to go from raw to using two ply???
Reagarding deans bandanna i couldnt agree with u more,He even told that lady that was competing she should have a tshirt not a vest on when deadlifting. :?:

Yeah I seen him tell her a few times. Me and my Mrs reckoned the sleasy ref just wanted to touch her top. I was laughing and saying to my Mrs next he will be grab her crotch, checking if she has IPF legal knickers on...LOL

As WSU / BWLA now do an unequipped class I think I will keep lifting raw with them and use two ply for BPC.
I think I'll forget the single ply.

should have come and said hello thanks for the directions but not knowing what you look like didn't want to look like an arse and wander round the room speaking to random people, I agree with you in that didn'y seem to be much shape to the contest. But can't really speak from experience. The ref at one point said that if Dean lifted one more time with his bandana on he'd disqualify him.
Out of curiosity, how do you go about joining the different federations etc, are there seperate weight classes, seemed to be pretty open today but may be due to only 8 lifters competing, what equipment do you have do have, for example don't really want to turn up in a pair of shorts tshirt and running trainers.

Just phone which fed you want to join and ask for a membership form.
You just need to decide whether you are going to compete raw or not and whether you agree to drug testing.
